Right then, Mi7 & Akira Records are preparing for an eclectic summer shakedown if ever there’s been a thing so marvelous…
Some great acts have agreed to help us help you hold on to that warm and shimmery festival feel.
…Alongside Mi7 Records the ethos of our combined night, as ever, is simply to showcase the best up and coming bands and those on the cusp of big things. As filter for new music and an artist collective, we are intent on finding and promoting the most exciting acts around right now.
LIVE MUSIC FROM:
// CONCRETE DISCO //
No way?! Yes way. Concrete Disco are here, making for us their live dance music of Soulwax-y, Deadmau5-y genius. Their self-proclaimed aim is “to take back for humanity the music that once was subject to the tyranny of the computer, and in so doing regain power over the machines that have made us their slaves for so long”. Excellent. Having already appeared on stage alongside Beardyman and Zane Lowe and with their forthcoming debut release to look forward to, this is an exciting time for the group. Catch them now.
“Like Syntax with Thom Yorke’s voice, but they’ve discovered a ten point dial marked ‘EPIC’ and they’ve somehow turned it up to eleven.” (Eddie Temple-Morris)
// VICES //
Since their 2 month stint recording in Hollywood with Jeff Saltzman last year, we’re really eager to see and hear what the guys have been up to. They’d like you to think Queens of the Stone Age meets Kings of Leon but rest assured, they definitely have their own sound to offer – a powerful and interesting voice supported by catchy, epic guitars and grounding bass lines, Vices are seriously good at what they do.

// THE COLOUR MOVEMENT //
This month we’re welcoming back this great band with great anticipation. The Colour Movement, inspired by a form of new age street painting, “express visuals and art through music”. The boys are currently in the studio recording an album, having spent the last two years working with producers Ben Mason (Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight) and Simon Efemy (Pantera, The Wildhearts), honing their brand of Dance Rock to perfection. And attracting no small amount of attention in the process…
// ESCAPISTS //
Another band we’ve been very keen on this year is London-based Escapists. Since forming in early 2010, the four-piece, all talented musicians in their own rights, have been writing simple, honest songs that combine soaring melodies, pounding rhythms and driving guitars to create a cinematic, dynamic rock and roll sound.
The band have been turning heads and pricking up ears across London with their blistering live set for a few months now whilst also tracking their first full-length album, now in the final stages of mixing. We can’t wait to see them again.
