…Alongside Mi7 Records the ethos of our combined night, as ever, is simply to showcase the best up and coming bands and those on the cusp of big things. As filter for new music and an artist collective, we are intent on finding and promoting the most exciting acts around right now.
LIVE MUSIC FROM:
// SUBMOTION ORCHESTRA //
Submotion Orchestra is a live 7-piece project from Leeds, incorporating deep bass-driven grooves and dense textures in their progressive live dubstep sound. Leaving crowds inspired and often open-mouthed in their wake, this is not live dubstep to be taken lightly. The members have all cut their teeth on live dub, funk, reggae, jazz and even grime bands previously, so are no strangers to complex rhythm or rootical bass. Having been formed in early 2009 as an experimental live project, the band have quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting up-and-coming acts of 2010-2011.
// STAC //
Wah Wah 45s recording artist Stac released her album ‘Turn That Light Out’ in summer 2010 and has just recently released ‘TTLO Remix Vol. One’. 2010 saw Stac and her band perform at the Royal Opera House, Big Chill, Secret Garden Party, Jazz Café and much more but with 2 more remix albums behind her and a busy festival season ahead 2011 promises to be a breakthrough year for Stacey Dowdeswell.
// S O L A R S T A T E //
The music of Solar State featured here –
Solar State is the band behind the Akira collective and is made up of four experienced musicians, whose collaboration has culminated in dreamy pop, with nods to folk and world music, electronica and dubstep. Mixing live instrumentation with electronics, this exciting new must-see band have crafted an unmissable live show.
// SHURA //
This is Hiatus & SHURA’s first gig as part of Collaboration Project that will see them release an EP in August 2011. Hiatus, a producer that Bonobo has spoken very highly of, cinematic music is draped with SHURA’s smoky, effortless voice, reminiscent of Trip-Hop’s most refined moments. Deemed one of the most interesting and intimate live acts on the London scene, SHURA have been described by Jamie Woon as – ‘Absolutely Magic’. We expect big things for this duo.
