Akira’s Song of the Day: Bonobo – Cirrus

bonobo

Akira’s Song of the Day is a new belter from Bonobo from his up coming album ‘The North Borders’ to be released on Ninja Tune on 1st April. I love Bonobo, he’s my hero. In second year of Uni I came across his music and didn’t stop listening to it for months on end. I played the guitar and played in guitar bands all my life, the world of music production was completely alien to me, so when I found out Bonobo was essentially one man in his bedroom I found the concept difficult to understand. Of course nowadays most people make music in their bedrooms or home studios but back then I had to investigate this further, so I started dabbling in music production on Cubase and then after Uni moved to Logic, and soon after formed Mt. Wolf with my bandmates. Thanks Bonobo, you’ve effectively saved my life with your music. I was lucky enough to meet him, very briefly, at Ronnie Scotts for his Black Sands album launch show, that was one of the best gigs ever, except for when I saw him play at Soundwave Croatia (he’s playing there again THIS YEAR). I’ve decided to also include some of my faves from his other albums, so this Song of the Day has turned into a Best of Bonobo…
