Akira’s Song of the Day: Little Nikki – Intro Intro

little nikki

Akira’s Song of the Day comes from feisty Londoner Little Nikki. I first knew about Little Nikki when I met her band Soundgirl at Ed Sheeran’s Album Launch party, well over a year ago. My comrade (Al Mitchell from my band Mt. Wolf and from Smashing Blouse fame) and I were chatting to them for quite a while only to find out that they were 14… As innocent as the conversation was we felt uncomfortable and swiftly moved on to chat with Rizzle Kicks, Pixie Lott and Maverick Sabre, y’know someone more our own age… Anyway we ‘liked’ Soundgirl on Facebook to be supportive and whilst I thought their music was a little immature for me you could see they had talent, especially Little Nikki. I always thought she had the best voice and the best style and obviously so did her record label because now the sixteen year old is going solo. She was recently nominated in MTV’s BRAND NEW for 2013 alongwith Angel Haze, Haim, Tom Odell and a few others. Word on the street is that she’s the new Rita Ora, or the UK’s answer to Rihanna, y’know cool and urban. I have to say I’m actually a big fan of this song ‘Intro Intro’, I just can’t stop listening to it. I never really listened to Soundgirl for longer than 30 seconds whereas this gets me banging my head and I also have a rather strange urge to put it on my iPod and start running around London causing havoc like Little Nikki. Watch the video you’ll understand…
